BLAST, MISSILE AND TORNADO RESISTANT REVIEW

Protective Door Industries (PDI's) mid to high range steel doors are custom engineered for blast or tornado produced missiles or extreme pressure resistance that require high dynamic factors and rebound loading design. The units can be concrete filled for improved radiation shielding, sound reduction or temperature insulating capacity. Our computer generated designs afford maximum protection to withstand forces up to 1000 PSI or even higher.

Construction is solid steel plate or composite structural steel and plate combination depending upon design load and size. Careful attention to the design of the hinging, latching and operating hardware assure ease of operation, minimum maintenance and maximum security. The units are fabricated per procedures outlined in the American Welding Society AWS Structural Welding Code for Steel and designs comply with AISC specifications and Dept. of the Army Technical Manual TM5-1300 "Structures to Resist the Effects of Accidental Explosions".

Refer to the page on our web-site Establishing Blast Criteria for design assistance. Or, go direct to the Selector Chart for technical specifications on our DB-X and DB-50 hinged-swing door models. Consult the factory at (or call) for other door configurations such as horizontal sliding or vertical lift. The assemblies are normally power operated by either pneumatic, hydraulic or electro-drive to move these massive doors at the touch of a button.

Additional notes:
Use of galvanized material is not compatible with all-welded steel door construction.
Hold-open devices are discouraged on a blast resistant door. When not in use, the door must remain closed at all times.
